Job Title: Adoptive Parent and Author

If your children are anything like mine, they struggle to piece together past present and future.  Time is an amorphous mass, like a jelly.  Clocks are a bit of a mystery.  And commonly used measures of time like ‘a week on Tuesday’ or ‘next month’ are meaningless.

We’ve put a lot of effort into helping our children get to grips, not only with clocks and calendars, but with cause and effect over time too.  We’ve made progress with wall charts and plans and calendars but when it comes down to placing oneself and one’s actions within a structure of past, present and future it’s been more difficult.
